Carbonless Copy Paper
Carbonless copy paper, also known as NCR paper (no carbon required), is a type of paper that allows for the creation of multiple copies of a document without the use of carbon paper. This paper is coated with a layer of micro-encapsulated dye or ink on the back of the top sheet and a layer of clay on the front of the bottom sheet. When pressure is applied to the top sheet, the micro-capsules break open and react with the clay on the bottom sheet, creating a copy of the original document. Carbonless copy paper was first developed in the 1950s as a more efficient and environmentally friendly alternative to carbon paper. It quickly gained popularity in the business world for its ease of use and ability to produce multiple copies without the mess and hassle of carbon paper. Today, carbonless copy paper is used in a variety of industries, including banking, healthcare, and retail. It is commonly used for creating receipts, invoices, contracts, and other important documents that require multiple copies. Carbonless copy paper is available in a range of colors and sizes to meet the needs of different applications. Despite its many benefits, carbonless copy paper does have some limitations. The copies produced by this paper may not be as sharp or clear as those produced by traditional photocopying methods. Additionally, the micro-capsules on the back of the top sheet can be easily damaged, leading to smudges or incomplete copies.
