Candle Snuffers
A candle snuffer is a small tool used to extinguish a candle flame. The snuffer consists of a bell-shaped metal or ceramic cup attached to a long handle. To use a candle snuffer, the bell-shaped cup is placed over the candle flame, and the flame is extinguished by cutting off the oxygen supply. This method of extinguishing a candle is preferred over blowing out a candle, as blowing can cause hot wax to splatter and can also create a smoky mess. Candle snuffers have been used for centuries, and were particularly popular in the 18th and 19th centuries when candles were the primary source of lighting in homes. They were often made of silver or brass and were highly decorative, with intricate designs and engravings. Today, candle snuffers are still widely used, particularly in religious ceremonies, and are available in a variety of styles and materials. In addition to their practical use, candle snuffers also have a symbolic meaning. In many cultures, extinguishing a candle with a snuffer is seen as a way of showing respect for the candle and the light it represents. It is also seen as a way of honoring the act of lighting a candle, which is often done for spiritual or meditative purposes.
