Cabinets Of Curiosities Residential Apartment

Cabinets of Curiosities Residential apartment is an innovative residential interior design project that exemplifies contemporary living solutions through thoughtful spatial organization and sophisticated material selection. Located in Cape Mansions Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong, this 2,000-square-foot apartment transformation, designed by Lorène Faure and Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui, represents a masterful integration of storage solutions with aesthetic appeal. The design concept revolves around maximizing space utilization while creating a fresh and tranquil atmosphere befitting its seaside location, achieved through the strategic removal of traditional partitions in favor of flexible, foldable dividers. Natural Belgian oak timber serves as the primary material, establishing a harmonious connection with the coastal environment while full-height mirrors strategically amplify the sea views and natural light penetration. The apartment's distinctive feature is its series of full-height timber panels incorporating display niches, which create a continuous visual narrative from the entrance through to the kitchen, simultaneously concealing high-density storage solutions for various purposes. The design's innovative approach to space optimization includes a transformable study area and a versatile hobbies room that can function as a private guest room, demonstrating exceptional adaptability in urban living spaces. This project, which earned a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, showcases how contemporary residential design can successfully balance functionality with aesthetic refinement while responding to specific client needs and environmental context.
