C R Apartment

C R Apartment is an exemplary residential interior design project that masterfully transforms the social floor of a 17th-century Hotel Particulier into a contemporary family residence while preserving its historical grandeur. Located in Lisbon, Portugal, this 315-square-meter apartment represents a sophisticated blend of architectural preservation and modern living requirements. The design intervention, completed in 2020, demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to the building's heritage, particularly in the preservation of original mural and ceiling paintings that adorned eleven original living rooms. The renovation strategy employed a principle of silent intervention, where new elements were integrated seamlessly without competing with the historical features. The project's innovative approach to space planning introduced five additional bathrooms and essential family living spaces while maintaining the integrity of the original architecture. The material palette features contemporary elements such as glass, mirrors, stainless steel, and brass, complemented by various shades of velvet and marble that harmonize with the original color scheme. The design solution utilized structural furniture and partitions to create new functional spaces without compromising the architectural heritage. This project, which earned a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, exemplifies excellence in adaptive reuse through its meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful integration of 21st-century furniture pieces with 18th-century architectural elements. The seamless flow between spaces and the organic transition between historical and contemporary elements demonstrate exceptional spatial planning and interior design expertise, creating a luxurious residential environment that respects its historical context while meeting modern living requirements.
