Inspired by the aesthetic and kinetic properties of water droplets, this elegantly designed coffee maker integrates a unique dual-filtration system that enhances both the brewing process and the resulting coffee quality. The design features a distinctive spherical filter in the upper portion that serves a dual purpose: acting as a secondary strainer for enhanced filtration while also providing space for aromatic additions such as fresh herbs or spices. Crafted from premium materials including porcelain, extra-clear glass, and wood, the brewer stands at 32.5 centimeters in height with a maximum diameter of 13.5 centimeters. The innovative design employs slip casting for the porcelain components, blow molding for the glass elements, and traditional lathe work for the wooden parts, demonstrating a harmonious blend of manufacturing techniques. The brewer's unique operational flow involves a two-stage filtration process where coffee first passes through a traditional filter paper before entering a water drop-shaped distiller, where any remaining sediment settles naturally before the purified coffee flows through side perforations into the waiting vessel below. This thoughtfully engineered brewing process, combined with its minimalist aesthetic and practical functionality, earned the design an Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design category in 2017, recognizing its contribution to contemporary coffee culture and innovative approach to traditional brewing methods.
