Bow Lamp

Bow Lamp

Bow Lamp is an innovative lighting fixture that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of natural materials and modern technology, crafted through sophisticated wood lamination techniques using natural ash wood. This minimalist design masterpiece, created by Italian designer Davide Mezzasalma, presents itself as a sculptural wooden bow that ingeniously conceals an integrated LED light rail, activated through a touch-sensitive switch. The lamp's distinctive feature lies in its ability to seamlessly transform from an elegant sculptural piece when inactive to a functional lighting solution when illuminated. Through meticulous engineering and extensive prototyping, the design incorporates a concealed magnetic system that enables versatile mounting options, allowing the fixture to adhere to any ferrous surface or dedicated support. The lamp's technical specifications include a 6W dimmable LED system, equivalent to a 40-watt standard bulb, housed within dimensions of 500mm in length, 55mm in width, and 13mm in thickness. The development process, spanning from 2017 to 2019, involved the creation of 24 prototypes to perfect the wood layering technique, optimize light diffusion, and achieve the ideal magnetic force. This innovative approach to lighting design earned recognition with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design category, acknowledging its contribution to contemporary lighting solutions through its modular principle that allows transformation into floor or pendant configurations.
