Borromei Loft Residential

Borromei Loft Residential

Borromei Loft Residential is an innovative architectural transformation project located in Milan's historic center, exemplifying contemporary residential design while preserving historical architectural elements. This sophisticated two-level loft development, recognized with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, masterfully addresses the challenge of integrating modern living spaces within a traditional urban context. The design's primary achievement lies in its ingenious solution to natural lighting constraints through the implementation of a dramatic 6.5x2.5-meter skylight and a 7.2x1.8-meter glass roof box, which channels daylight throughout the space. The project's spatial organization follows a sophisticated progression from public to private areas, reminiscent of traditional Milanese architecture, featuring three distinct bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms arranged around a central living space that functions as the heart of the home. The interior design incorporates a thoughtful material palette, including natural and painted steel for the staircases, concrete flooring in the living areas, and transparent glass elements that maintain visual continuity between spaces. Notable design elements include multiple designed staircases connecting the levels, a vertical green wall enhancing a small terrace, and carefully curated zones for various activities including music, study, and entertainment. The project, completed in 2023, demonstrates exceptional attention to detail in its integration of modern amenities while respecting the building's historical character, creating a harmonious balance between contemporary luxury and traditional architectural elements.
