1967 Bar lounge is an award-winning hospitality design project located in the vibrant Roppongi district of Tokyo, Japan, conceived as a sophisticated European-style salon that seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces. Completed in April 2013, this innovative establishment spans approximately 411 square meters, comprising 209.9 square meters of indoor space and 201.3 square meters of terraced area, creating a harmonious balance between intimate interior settings and an expansive garden lounge. The design, led by principal designer Yasumichi Morita along with senior designer Akihiro Fujii, designer Yasuaki Fuchita, and lighting designer Kenji Ito, draws its namesake from the birth year shared by three key project contributors. The interior architecture masterfully incorporates premium materials, including china tile flooring by Dinaone in the corridor and bar counter areas, arabescato stone for stairs, and sophisticated tile carpeting by Toli in the sofa and private room areas. The space features four distinct private rooms, each showcasing carefully curated artworks themed around the 1960s, effectively transforming these spaces into gallery-like environments. The design's innovative approach to space utilization allows for dynamic transformation throughout the day, with 80% of the space dedicated to garden seating until 9 PM, after which the environment transitions into a more entertainment-focused venue through the strategic use of shutters and lighting. This exceptional design earned the Golden A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category in 2014, recognized for its innovative spatial planning, sophisticated material selection, and ability to create an oasis of tranquility within one of Tokyo's busiest districts.
