Millies Retail is an innovative retail interior design concept that revolutionizes the traditional shoe shopping experience by transforming commercial spaces into sophisticated, private shoe closet environments. This architectural design solution, created by designers Natalie Chan and Cherry Ho, emphasizes comfort, coziness, and a carefree atmosphere through its thoughtfully crafted spatial organization. The design concept, which won the Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, features three distinct functional zones dedicated to shoe display, storage, and customer experience. The interior aesthetic is characterized by its minimalist approach, incorporating curved edges and a carefully curated selection of thirty different materials, including fabrics, artificial stones, timber, and metals. A notable design element is the custom-designed carpet featuring pastel colors that enhances the comfortable atmosphere while serving as a central feature. The concept demonstrates remarkable adaptability, accommodating retail spaces ranging from 70 to 150 square meters across the Asia-Pacific region, making it suitable for implementation across various locations. Each shoe cabinet within the space is uniquely designed with distinct display systems, creating an artful composition through basic geometry while maintaining functionality. The project, completed in late 2019, represents a significant evolution in retail design, combining brand identity with practical considerations and demonstrates excellence in spatial planning, material selection, and customer experience design, as recognized by the A' Design Award's prestigious jury panel.
