Banyan Pavilion Store is an innovative architectural renovation project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of commercial space with natural heritage in a historic district. Located adjacent to a century-old banyan tree, this 36-square-meter retail space represents a pioneering approach to contemporary store design influenced by the evolution of e-commerce. The project, designed by Yi Xiao and completed in 2020, demonstrates exceptional sensitivity to environmental and cultural contexts through its thoughtful architectural interventions. The design's primary feature is its circular spatial configuration that embraces the existing banyan tree, creating a seamless connection between interior and exterior spaces. The structure employs a sophisticated combination of traditional and modern materials, including reinforced brick and steel construction, complemented by handwoven rattan boards that echo the texture of the banyan tree's bark.
