Bay Arce Restaurant is an innovative seafood dining establishment located within the Kanazawa Port Cruise Terminal Building in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, distinguished by its sophisticated architectural design that harmoniously integrates maritime aesthetics with functional dining spaces. The restaurant's most striking feature is its extensive glass facade that provides panoramic views of the sea, while its interior design conceptualizes the dining area as a grand vessel floating on water. The space, encompassing approximately 230 square meters, employs a thoughtfully engineered step-floor format that ensures optimal sea views from every seating position, including accessible slopes for wheelchair users. The ceiling's distinctive wave-like patterns, meticulously crafted from locally-sourced Noto Hiba wood, known for its natural deodorant and insect-repellent properties, demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship through hand-bent wooden components individually pinned to create fluid, organic forms. The interior configuration includes diverse seating arrangements, from round tables and counter seats to sofa arrangements, catering to various dining occasions. The restaurant, which opened in April 2020, was recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in 2021 in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its innovative spatial design and material application. The progressive reveal of the dining area and seascape from the entrance creates an engaging customer journey, while the evening ambiance is enhanced through strategic illumination of the wooden wave formations, creating a sophisticated dining atmosphere.
