Benjamin Moore Experience Center is an innovative retail and experiential space located in Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, China, that revolutionizes the traditional concept of paint showrooms through its experimental approach to spatial design and product presentation. Conceived by designer Ni Dongbo and the NDB Design Studio team, this 100-square-meter space transcends conventional display methods by artfully combining product showcasing with artistic expression, creating an immersive environment that transforms the act of paint selection into an engaging, multisensory experience. The design philosophy deliberately embraces uncertainty and experimental methodologies, incorporating diverse materials such as wood, stone, leather, steel tube, and acrylic in unique combinations with paint applications, showcasing the versatility and aesthetic potential of paint beyond traditional wall applications. The space features thoughtfully curated elements including repurposed light bulbs, ceramic tiles with intentionally torn masking tape, and sculptural wall segments that collectively create a harmonious yet dynamic atmosphere. Completed in May 2021, this Bronze A' Design Award-winning project in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category demonstrates exceptional innovation in retail design through its unconventional approach to material experimentation and spatial organization. The center's design successfully challenges preconceptions about paint showrooms by creating an environment that not only facilitates product selection but also serves as a platform for artistic expression and customer engagement, effectively conveying brand values while providing an innovative solution to the presentation of paint products in a retail context.
