Bar Mori Interior Design

Bar Mori Interior Design is an award-winning interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious fusion of Japanese aesthetics with forest-inspired motifs, created by designer Hong Yan Lin in Linkou, Taiwan. This sophisticated 88-square-meter establishment reimagines the conventional bar-restaurant concept by introducing a unique narrative of a secluded tree cave within an urban setting. The design's distinctive journey begins with a meticulously crafted entrance sequence, where patrons traverse through a verdant garden before entering through a glass door into a transitional hallway, effectively creating a ceremonial passage from urban chaos to natural serenity. The interior architecture employs a sophisticated manipulation of ceiling heights, particularly in the bar area, where the progressive lowering of the ceiling creates an intimate cave-like atmosphere that enhances social connection. The space features thoughtfully selected natural materials, including rustic wooden furniture and low-back Japanese sofas, complemented by strategic placement of vegetation that reinforces the forest theme. A notable design element includes a social media-friendly installation combining a swing, climbing vines, and a sand painting-inspired wall treatment. The project, completed in December 2022, demonstrates exceptional spatial planning through its gradient approach to lighting and atmosphere, transitioning from lighter to darker tones as one moves deeper into the space. This innovative design earned recognition with a Silver A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, acknowledging its excellence in creating an immersive dining environment that successfully balances aesthetic sophistication with functional requirements while maintaining a strong connection to nature and Japanese design principles.
