Located on the second floor of a furniture store in Hangzhou, China, this 200-square-meter space is characterized by its dramatic black wedge-shaped volume that serves multiple functions, including fitting rooms, storage areas, exhibition spaces, and circulation elements. The design's most striking feature is its bold geometric intervention - a massive inclined black block that connects with the central staircase, effectively dividing the space while creating a compelling visual narrative. The materiality of the space showcases an industrial aesthetic through exposed welding traces, hand-ground stainless steel elements, and distinctive geometric fixtures, all contributing to a futuristic yet melancholic atmosphere. The project, completed in October 2015, demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship in its detailed execution, featuring unique parabolic and triangular racks, fan-shaped handrails, and carefully considered surface treatments including marble powder finishes and polished stainless steel elements.
