Behesht Official Commercial Complex

Behesht Official commercial complex is an innovative sustainable architectural project located in Shiraz, Iran, that exemplifies modern urban development principles while maintaining sensitivity to local context and environmental responsibility. Completed in 2017, this six-story structure encompasses 4,991 square meters of built area, featuring three underground levels dedicated to parking and trading centers, with upper floors housing offices and commercial spaces. The complex demonstrates exceptional attention to sustainable design principles, incorporating regional materials, post-tension concrete structure, and large windows for natural light optimization. The building's distinctive features include tent sunshades, insulating bricks, larch wood, reinforced concrete, and stone facades, all carefully selected to minimize environmental impact while maximizing energy efficiency. The project's urban integration is particularly noteworthy, with 139 square meters dedicated to public urban space, emphasizing accessibility for all users, including those with disabilities. The design, created by Dr. Mohammad Aliabadi, prioritizes Transfer Oriented Development principles and serves as an urban catalyst for the surrounding area's development. The complex received recognition through a Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category, acknowledging its innovative approach to combining commercial functionality with sustainable practices. The project's comprehensive research phase included extensive community engagement through surveys, interviews, and photographic documentation, ensuring the final design would effectively serve local needs while promoting social sustainability and enhanced street life.
