BO-007 Bollard

BO-007 Bollard is an innovative urban furniture design that exemplifies the evolution of contemporary street infrastructure, combining aesthetic appeal with practical functionality. This carbon steel bollard, distinguished by its three-dimensional laser-cut pattern and engineered for durability, represents a significant advancement in pedestrian zone protection and urban space organization. Standing at 960mm in height with a 90mm width and depth, the bollard features a sophisticated galvanized and polyester powder coating finish that ensures resilience against environmental factors. A notable innovation is its integrated engineering-grade reflective strip, strategically positioned within the pattern cut-out to maintain visibility from all angles while preventing vandalism. The design's slender yet robust structure, weighing 9 kilograms, culminates in a distinctive radial cut-out pattern that diffuses towards the edges, creating an aesthetically pleasing form that harmoniously integrates into various urban landscapes. Developed in Guadalajara, Mexico, between September 2016 and February 2017, this design addresses the growing urban challenge of redistributing public spaces in favor of pedestrians while requiring minimal maintenance and no electrical installation. The bollard's thoughtful design earned it the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in the Street and City Furniture Design category in 2019, recognizing its innovative approach to urban furniture design and its contribution to creating more humanized city spaces. Its development involved extensive research into driver and pedestrian behavior patterns, resulting in a design that effectively serves as both a protector and mediator in the urban environment.
