Boundless Interior Design for Community is an innovative architectural interior design project that exemplifies the harmonious integration of cultural spaces within residential environments, situated in a philosophical neighborhood of Taipei city. This Gold A' Design Award-winning project, designed by Peng-Hsu Chen, transforms a mixed-use apartment building into a dynamic community hub that dissolves traditional spatial boundaries while fostering intellectual engagement. The design's distinctive approach incorporates book-inspired wooden panels from the exterior arcade to the reception area, creating a seamless transition between public and private spaces. The high-ceiling lobby, encompassed by functional bookshelves, serves as a communal library where residents and visitors can engage in literary pursuits and community activities. Notable technical innovations include the implementation of metal grill ceilings with wood finish in common areas, which ingeniously conceals safety systems while maintaining aesthetic coherence with the book-stacked visual theme. The 650-square-meter space employs sophisticated material selections, including mirror-finished stainless steel mailboxes, titanium ceiling plates, and black copper-free finishes in the fitness area, which effectively blur physical boundaries while expanding spatial perception. This design successfully creates a boundless culture-sharing environment that responds to its academic context, being adjacent to the National Taiwan Normal University, and reinforces the neighborhood's identity as a hub for intellectual and artistic pursuit. The project, recognized with a Gold A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category, demonstrates exceptional achievement in combining functional design with cultural significance, creating a space that transcends traditional residential boundaries to foster community engagement and intellectual exchange.
